just taking the piss..

Before we take forward our perfume concept, one task is to think about all the negative aspects which could be taken the mick out of. Last week I posted a task I had to complete by creating sarcastic copy to a fragrance ad, similar to this I will need to come up with straplines/copy to sarcastically criticize our concept. I have broken it down into two themes; femininity (the empowerment of women) and cultures.

FEMININITY

'Mean girls in the office'
'I'm not a dumb bimbo therefore you must be my perfume'
'I'm successful, you're irrelevant'
'Fabulous in every way'
'Honey, I don't need no man'

CULTURES

'We're not successful so we're linking with a successful city'
'We know nothing about the culture but at least our bottle looks pretty'
'We cant think of a target audience so we'll target everyone'

Note to self: avoid these.

Fragrance project: concept idea

A fragrance for women which only uses natural ingredients. Our range will have several perfumes which symbolize each culture and heritage of the target woman. The range will aim to empower women, not only externally but internally through the use of natural ingredients empower their inner beauty. Each perfume will be open to try for different women in contrasting cultures to unite the females of today.

Areas to improve:

Route to consumer - why will she need our product?
How will she feel empowered?
Who are our main competitors?
Tie the concept together!

Fragrance project: the research story

Our next project is all about fragrance.. as a group, 3 girls and I are beginning to look into the perfume industry and starting to think about what consumer we will be targeting, what market level, trends, and most importantly the end concept.

TOPSHOP AUTUMN WINDOWS 2013

SELFRIDGES CHRISTMAS WINDOWS 2013
Selfridges used wonderfully oversized gifty-things dropped into snowy landscapes that are populated by various plastic 'Lilliputian' communities. Hundreds of little abseiling Santas inhabit one window, countless tuxedoed penguins in another and even improbably cute 'Day of the dead' figurines are scattered about yet another. What the windows cleverly does in this way is present an exceptionally well-curated set of present ideas.

LONDON LIGHT ADVERTISING

GINA LONDON CHRISTMAS WINDOWS 2013

HARRODS CHRISTMAS WINDOWS 2013
Harrods shop windows portrayed engaging visual stories in the form of an art installation. The 'Harrods Express' windows are inspired by the iconic British steam train, each carriage displays a different Christmas scene with a 1920's Great Gatsby vibe. The rolling wheels if the express train and the videos with landscapes that are played on the background definitely makes the concept stronger and give passers-by the feeling they are walking in a riding Harrods.

HARVEY NICHOLS CHRISTMAS WINDOWS 2013

Similar to Harrods windows, the Harvey Nichols windows capture the spirit of the season with a magical display of fashion and fantasy. This years theme takes inspiration from the religious iconography seen on Autumn/Winter 2013 catwalks. The store is transformed into a winter wonderland with a fluorescent makeover. Bathe in the displays warm glow as coloured bulbs frame the panes and metallic fabrics back stars and snowflakes to resemble rays of light.

JOHN LEWIS CHRISTMAS WINDOWS 2014

Without a doubt, Londons most experimental concept for window displays. John Lewis presented a breathtaking display of engineering genius. This utterly inclusive window unveils nothing less than a hoover reindeer, a chesterfield-slash-picnic-hamper grizzly bear, toweling turkeys, crockery squirrels, cleaning utensil bunny rabbit and many ore. Reminding the customers of the heart warming characters they see in the Christmas advert.
